Yesterday afternoon, while watching Mr Bean’s Holiday at home, I had a sudden craving for something sweet (obviously I gave in to this craving lol). I walked into my kitchen and stood there wondering what to eat (having bought groceries earlier definitely helped with my options). Bananas are usually my go-to food for something sweet, but I’m sure you know by now how much I love mixing things up… adding a bagel with my banana reminded me of my love for banana bread. I used to eat Starbuck’s Banana Loaf almost everyday while in college… I don’t even want to think about how terrible that was for my body, but I do remember how amazing it tastes *droooool*
So ofcourse, I’m half way through a movie and don’t have time to MAKE banana bread so the next best thing is to slice a banana on a lightly toasted 100% whole wheat bagel. I also smeared a LIGHT layer of margarine on the toasted bagel to add to the texture and for a slight hint of flavour. This quick and easy banana loaf would also be great as a breakfast sandwich or grab and go snack while out of the house.
P.S. For all you Bean fiends, I would highly recommend Mr Bean’s Holiday… HILARIOUS movie = )
For someone who used to fall asleep with her hand in a bag of chips (yes, there are pictures to prove it) I think I’ve come a long way in terms of healthy snacking. There are definitely days when I crave chips, but knowing that I’ve managed to go so many weeks at a time without it helps me avoid the temptation. The good thing is, I’ve replaced chips with something else that I love just as much… fruit! Yep, here I go again about fruit LOL, but you have to admit that this bowl looks heavenly! All it took for this mix was an apple, a banana and an orange with a light drizzle of honey. Next time you’re cozy-ing up to watch a movie and need something to snack on… look to whatever fruit you have laying around in your kitchen and dice them up. If honey isn’t your thing, try adding some Greek yogurt, a scoop of ice cream, or even fruit juice for that little something extra.
Remember… it’s never a bad thing to treat yourself every now and then… moderation is the key to a balanced lifestyle = )
All credit for yesterday’s mouth watering lunch has to go to my mother for whipping up this yummy-ness, but also my grandmother as it is originally her recipe. I can honestly say I’ve never had a better tasting mix of veges and chicken – and of course it’s packed with all things good for you. A really filling meal that consists of peas, carrots, cabbage, beets, and chicken cooked with Greek yogurt, tomatoes and a bunch of spices. If I could eat this before and after every workout I probably would lol! For the full recipe shoot me an email and I’d be more than happy to share it with ya = )
Annnnnnnnd for a refreshing snack after lunch, my go-to fruit is usually frozen mango chunks which are perfect to add to so many things… smoothies, salads, dips, salsa or if you’re like me… eat them just like that. Here, I also added a diced up guava for some variety… NomNomNom
